About Me

Hi all,

Thank you for taking the time to stop by my blog! I am honored by every single person who chooses to read my story and share in this journey with me. Let me tell you a tiny bit about myself as you will be getting to know my heart on these pages.

Meet the cast of my life and this blog:

I'm Amy*. I am a woman in my mid-twenties who loves the Lord with all her heart. I am a Catholic Christian and I love my faith and I love the Eucharist. I am an oldest sister, a daughter, a best friend, a girlfriend, a singer, an actor, a music director, a teacher. I'm constantly a work in progress to be better at all of these things.

I have PCOS and PMDD along with depression & anxiety and OCD tendencies, and I live life with my heart on my sleeve. I am not afraid to be transparent and I am honored when people feel comfortable enough to be transparent with me, so I chose to start a blog to share my story.

This is Michael*. He's my boyfriend and we've been together for 2 1/2 years. He lives in Colorado and I live in California. He's a miracle in my life and I thank God for him every day. Long distance and mental illness have been two big challenges in our relationship, but God has used them for His glory and has created beauty from it all. (I really want to marry this guy one day - shhh!)

These are my siblings. My two sisters and brother are my favorite people in the world. We have dance parties, laugh our faces off, have ugly face contests, snap chat each other all day, and generally make each other's lives full of joy. These are my best friends and I couldn't live without them. They know my heart better than anyone in the world, for better and for worse. I am so blessed to be their big sister.

These are my students. I work as a musical theatre coach at HSPA* - High School of Performing Arts in California. I never thought I would be a teacher, let alone at a high school. I never knew I would feel so fulfilled by working with teenagers. These kids are my heart and my life. I have been here for five years and always say I'm staying here until I have too many kids to be able to work anymore. These kids have taught me so much about joy, perseverance, hard work, and most importantly, unconditional love. I started working here when I was 21, so this is my home, where I have truly learned who I am and who I want to be. These kids have seen me grow up just as much as I have seen them grow up before my eyes. Thank God for calling me to be a teacher.

This blog is my home to write about my life and my struggles. I want to share my story and bring other people a better understanding of mental illness, and hopefully give others who share in my struggle a place to find hope, or at least to realize they are not alone.Thank you for stopping by and reading my story - I hope it touches you in some way!

*all names and places in this blog will be changed to protect privacy - i'm still me and this is still my life! thanks for understanding!
